Last year (June 2019), an M515 unit was demonstrated to Whitelock Developments near Skipton, the enormous success of which led to the purchase of a new unit that is currently being used to process their material!
“The machine had been brought in as a demonstration and it performed beyond my expectations!” Luke Jones
Whitelock’s were looking for a high production scalper capable of producing clean products all year round whilst also being able to handle large sized feed stocks containing smaller sticky products such as soil within it. Having tried a few scalpers, the conclusion was that they were not producing the results and kept blocking, especially during the wet season. Having seen the MDS machine in action,(demonstration from Blue Group) they decided that the M515 3 Way split with the revolutionary drum cleaner would best meet all their application requirements.
The M515 exceeded production rates of other scalpers whilst dealing with the very wet sticky fines that often blind over traditional scalping screens. The MDS drum cleaner ensures that the trommel never blinds over and keeps the wheels turning whatever the conditions faced by the machine.
“When we decided to have a look at the MDS I must admit I was sceptical that the trommel could do what was claimed. However within minutes of seeing the machine work we knew that the MDS trommel was the right machine and was ideal for our application. It is incredibly well built and just does what is says on the tin with no fuss”
“It’s simple and easy to use, and set up is literally within a few minutes”
Whitelock’s feed their M515 using a 20 tonne CAT excavator with a combination of blasted rock and General C&D waste. The push feeder system ensures that the trommel is fed at the maximum and optimum feed rate to produce the best product and a high tonnage. There are several settings available on this machine that the operator can fine tune (Drum Speed, feed rate, opening size) to get maximise tonnage without compromise to the products produced. These
Their unit is fitted with 75mm in fines and 150mm in the Mid-Product thus producing three products. The smaller fines product goes to the wash plant where sand, grit stone and other valuable aggregates are reclaimed. Nothing goes to waste from this wash plant. The mid-size is considered to be clean crusher run and achieves a premium price due to the product being free over fines. The over size (plus 150mm) is being fed directly into a Powerscreen PT400X to produce a further crushed product.
There are no other machines on the market that could deal with the mixture of wet fines that virtually splosh onto the heap whilst processing the larger 600mm plus sized rock as well.
Using a traditional horizontal scalper might just become a thing of the past to many people who are willing to look outside of the box and give the MDS range a chance to prove our equipment is game changing in material processing all year round! Thanks to Whitelocks for having the confidence in MDS and purchasing this machine.
